Dec. 8, 2017 FLTRP "Star Teacher" Final Contest sponsored by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press concluded at Beijing. Su Xiaoqing from School of Foreign Studies won the first prize.
The FLTRP "Star Teacher" Contest is a national contest among teachers specializing English education at the collegiate level. As currently the most influential English teaching contest in China, it is jointly undertaken by the Supervisory Committee for College Foreign Language Teaching, the Branch Supervisory Committee for the Teaching of English Majors, and the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. More than 1000 candidates from around the country participated this year and only 24 teachers had made it to the final contest.
With the theme of "Smart design: Bridging to smart learning", the 2017 “Star Teacher” Contest, now in its fourth year, aims at exploring innovative teaching models and aims to improve the overall level of China's foreign language education. Consisting of 3 sessions: smart teaching design, classroom instruction demonstration, and question & answer session, the Contest fully examines the design, teaching and evaluation abilities of English faculties.
Su Xiaoqing of Northwestern Polytechnical University combined online and offline teaching to demonstrate a smart teaching design highlighting "the hedging language in academic English writing". Her remarkable performance and innovative design have won her applause and an opportunity for a study tour in Singapore.
